However, we wouldn’t have been able to manage this alone.
Without advertisements, few else could’ve continually supported our growth, while keeping the lights on and our writers happy. Over the last few months, we’ve learned now the importance of ad revenue, and how to maximize it to keep on growing and evolving into the future. Although, online ads are a fickle thing, as you’re always left at the mercy of the Google algorithm, and your visitors.
Changes in how ads are shown, their visibility to our fellow readers, and what ads are being displayed play a crucial role in keeping websites like ours alive. One small adverse change and it could’ve been over. It’s for that reason why, in this Ezoic review, we’re going to talk about how their AI-driven ad system, management, and computation could help your website grow, as much as it has with Motor Verso.

What Is Ezoic?
First, you might be asking, what’s the subject of our Ezoic review? Who is Ezoic? To put it simply, they’re a premium online ad network, as a sort of more advanced version of Google AdSense. You might already be quite familiar with Google’s own tools for embedding ads onto your webpage, not to mention on other Google services, like YouTube. But if Google’s AdSense, low cost (publishers receive 68% of the revenue recognised), is available for use, why bother with platforms like Ezoic?
Ah, we’ll be learning more of that later in our Ezoic review. But for now, just trust us (having switched from AdSense ourselves) that using for Ezoic brings significant benefits. It’s better than AdSense, in every way. Ezoic isn’t alone in this space, though. They compete against other top ad tools, such as AdThrive and Mediavine. Ordinarily, the latter two used to be the go-to option for most people, but things have changed.
You share a lot of ad revenue with some premium ad networks to services like these, just to have ads intelligently featured and placed on your webpage. Nevertheless, it hasn’t been the same since Ezoic has entered the fray, as of this Ezoic review. They brought with them a most tempting and unique USP over AdThrive and Mediavine, and especially so against AdSense – artificial intelligence, and machine learning. In the case of our Ezoic review, it works incredibly well.
In short, Ezoic uses AI to analyze your webpage, and will automatically determine the right amount, placement location, and type of ads to show to individual visitors that come to your site. As time passes, it’ll get to absorb even more information on how visitors (like you) react to certain ads and uses Ezoic’s machine learning to better optimize them. All without requiring any manual fine-tuning from you.
Using Ezoic doesn’t just benefit us, the folks running the site, either (we’ll learn more of that later in our Ezoic review). At its core, how ads are shown, where they’re placed, and what’s being displayed, ultimately is designed to benefit you…
- By putting ads in the right places, it doesn’t obstruct or interrupt the visitor’s view of the webpage. For a blog-type site like ours, where heavy reading is a core part of that experience, it’s crucial that these ads won’t get in the way. Imagine banners continually breaking up the illusion between every single paragraph? Using proper ad placements ensures an easy-going and pleasant user interface.
- Similarly, and while ad revenue is important, it’s vital that websites don’t simply cram advertisements down their visitors’ throats. Pop-up banners left, right, and center is detrimental to how someone will perceive your website. If anything, too many ads are more likely to encourage them to go elsewhere for content. In other words, you need enough ads to make money, but not too many of them at once.
- By showing ads that are the most relevant to the visitor, you’re also increasing user engagement. If you’re showing advertisements for things that don’t attract the attention of your visitors, how are you going to make any money? Ads need to be tailored for every visitor and ultimately advertise what’s on their mind. In doing so, you’re helping to gain even further ad revenue for your site.
At the end of the day, you need to show ads that are engaging, respectful, and inoffensive in the eyes of your visitors. This isn’t always easy but is ultimately made all that much easier thanks to Ezoic’s AI and machine learning. They have the know-how and computation to make ads show up seamlessly on your webpage. Hence, a win-win for you and your users…
Example Revenue From Articles, Traffic Report, And EPMV
So far, we’ve had nothing but praise in our Ezoic review. But, is there any merit to our argument? To prove how much of a positive impact Ezoic’s had on Motor Verso’s growth here’s just an example of the earnings for some of our articles, as of writing this Ezoic review.
The below table is a great example of average performing content. It sits below our top 100 articles and shows that you can expect a return of around $38 per 1000 page views even in the lowest season of the year.
You can see here three very important metrics – pageviews, revenue, and EPMV. The first two should be fairly self-explanatory. In short, how many views a particular page is getting within a set period of time. And, how much money that specific page is getting. You can see here, for example, how some of our pages are getting just under $40 (per month). Over a year, that leads to around $500 for a page with very average traffic.
That alone compares handily against Google’s AdSense, which we’ll look more closely at further in our Ezoic review. For now, we’ll have to talk about that other metric, EPMV. “EPMV” means ‘earnings per thousand visitors‘. Essentially, a rough average of how much you’re earning for every 1,000 folks that hop onto your website. Of course, the higher the EPMV, the better, which is our case here.
Of course, your revenue and EPMV, optimized and managed automatically by Ezoic, are determined by several key factors. Primarily, how many people are visiting your webpage, and how many adverts are shown at a time.
Our Journey With Ezoic
So, how much of an impact has Ezoic made on Motor Verso, thus far? Before we get to that in just a hot minute in our Ezoic review, let’s tell you a short story of where we came from. We joined Ezoic’s ad network and have been a user of their services since October 2020. This was around the time that we started to get into writing up SEO-focused content, as well as our usual bread-and-butter since our founding in 2013.
Back then in late-2020, we began with around 1,500 pageviews a day. It was a jubilant milestone, as we thought then that the sky was the limit for what we can achieve. Little did we know how much of an impactful moment that was, too. These days, we’re handily gaining over 15,000 pageviews each day. That 10x jump was mind-blowing, and Ezoic has allowed us to maximize our ad earnings.
During the first month alone, Ezoic helped us to earn over $600 from ad revenue. This was a gigantic increase over Google’s AdSense, which netted us less than $300 in the month before. More than twice as much, as you can see. When we founded Motor Verso, we had humble ambitions of just writing anything we wanted, as long as folks were happy to read it. Ezoic’s given us a chance to evolve.
We’ve since reinvested our profits, thanks to Ezoic, into even more content. Both to grow the site, and to serve a varying and diverse audience. Between January and June of 2021, we’ve written up around 15 SEO keyword targeted articles a month. With Ezoic’s maximized ad revenue, which we’ll discover more in our Ezoic review, we’re now able to publish just a smidge over 50 articles every month, with an abundance of subjects and topics to talk about.
Why Ezoic Has Worked So Well For Us?
You might be wondering, how could a simple switch between ad providers make that much of a large difference? Well, it’s not all as “simple” as it might seem, as the engine that powers those ads could easily determine how well or poorly your webpage might earn down the line. Ezoic’s ad tools really are that consequential (more on that later in our Ezoic review), and they’ve worked well for us thanks to features such as…
- Improved Ad Integration – There’s a greater variety of adverts, with different layouts and topics. It’ll eventually lead to more value for the readers. This is a far better solution than traditional ad tools like AdSense, which takes up a lot of time in the back-end trying to optimize ads manually. With Ezoic, it’s got their data-driven machine learning and AI, as well as a team of people doing all this for you.
- Better Ad Placements – Ezoic’s AI automatically places as many ads as possible onto a single page, to try and maximize your ad revenues. All the while, without making it too distracting for our readers. It tailors ads for every visitor and changes the number of ads that appear on the fly. Once again, it’s a much better alternative than manually adjusting how many ads get to show up at once on a page.
We can see here in our Ezoic review the beauty of Ezoic’s AI-based ad system when comparing it to AdSense, AdThrive, or Mediavine. The entire process is a set-it-and-forget-it experience. With a bit of tinkering from the get-go, the rest of the process has been automated for your convenience. This means less time having to be spent on tweaking adverts, and more of those hours invested into writing up better content.
What’s Our Content Strategy?
While we’re at it in our Ezoic review, how has adopting and integrating Ezoic’s advertising model into our business made an impact on our content? As we mentioned earlier in our Ezoic review, less time spent on manually fine-tuning the ads ensures that we have more time on content. In particular, the ability to pay closer attention to how we write, format, edit, publish, manage, as well as plan for future articles in the pipeline.
In a nutshell, our strategy (as with this Ezoic review, with its clever ads) simply boils down to investing the revenues from those ads into the content. With more writers on board to provide quality content, it gives us the breathing room to create a bucket load of great long-form articles every month. Once the earnings on those articles start to accrue, we’ll invest it back into more content, and the whole cycle continues.
All in all, switching to Ezoic ascertains that we could deliver better content for you. Here’s a pathway of what we’re doing now, with the ad-bucks that Ezoic’s afforded us…
- Investing the prior month’s ad revenue, which in itself is a monumental increase over AdSense.
- Those earnings go into writing even more high-quality content. And, we now have the time to invest in researching valuable keywords more effectively and planning out articles down the line.
- Specifically, much of our content is 3,000-word long-form articles, focused on SEO (search engine optimization). We’re now readily cranking out 50 of these every month, discussing everything from troubleshooting car problems to DIY tips and tricks.
- Once those articles are published, we’ll give it 6 or so months to start ranking in Google Search. We’d hope by then that it gets into the coveted first (or perhaps second) page in Google.
- As we build traffic for that particular page, we’ll receive the oft-higher ad revenue from Ezoic. Then, reinvesting into more content for the following month, and so on.
Are Ezoic’s Premium Ads Worth It?
If there’s one thing that might discourage you in this Ezoic review, it’s knowing it comes with a small cost, Ezoic will take 10% of your ad revenue. Remember, Google’s AdSense is a revenue share platform (publishers receive 68% of the revenue recognised), so why bother opting for tools like Ezoic? Well for that 10% Ezoic take, they will most likely double your Adsense earnings or more, so it’s a no brainer.
Ezoic also has a Premium program. Which will make you more money if you are invited into it. This might not seem essential for smaller websites, but you will earn more, but you need to pay a fee upfront as part of the Premium program (the fee is relative to your ad revenue monthly earnings). As you can imagine, it wasn’t easy stomaching this back in 2021, when Motor Verso was a relative minnow, the as-of-yet up-and-comer of car blogs (and whilst we were reinvesting our earnings back into content).
In the case of our Ezoic review, you could be paying them anywhere from $14 to $50,000 a month to show ads on your site, depending on where you are at on your journey.
Is it really worth such a high expense to add to your balance sheet? The easy answer is Yes, its high cost is absolutely, 100% worth the price. In our experience, you’re earning at least 1/3 more in ad income than what you pay. Always go for the Elite version.
As time passes, Ezoic’s AI-honed ads will continually learn to improve how it displays ads on your site, further attracting traffic. Therefore, it’s certainly on the cards for you to earn even more than that in good time. It’s something that you can’t easily lose out on, again, if you could afford it. But if you’re earning $3,000+ each month on ads with a plan that costs you $2,000+ per month, it’s still a profit and that would be on top of your base Ezoic earnings. Again, it’s a no brainer.
As it’s shown here in our Ezoic review, they have numerous tiers and plans that you could choose from. Each one varies in the subscription fee you’re paying to Ezoic. And at the end of the month, yielding ad revenue based on how many premium advertisement campaigns it’ll decide to show on your site. In addition to higher ad earnings, the higher-tier plans have extra perks.
Now, we come to another conundrum when making the switch for the first time – what are the basic requirements for setting up with Ezoic? A while back, there used to be a barrier of entry of 10,000 (at least) pageviews before you could integrate Ezoic onto your site. Understandably, that’s quite a high target for a lot of smaller blogs and newer webpages, including ours at the time of joining, but we did qualify, where Mediavine and Adthrive had rejected us.
These days, Ezoic has since expanded to include its new Access Now program. It’s practically a more accessible service, allowing those sites with less than 10,000 monthly pageviews to leverage the same benefits as much larger publishers do. As of our Ezoic review here, Ezoic claims that these smaller sub-10k sites have seen growth upwards of 230% within just 6 months after relying on Access Now, and Ezoic’s smart ads.
So, you no longer have to meet a minimum pageview requirement to get into the Ezoic ecosystem. This, we think, is a great concept to help tinier publishers, and with the same tools and perks as the bigger sites. Although Ezoic does make it clear, that to best monetize using their ads, it’s ideal for there to be at least 1,000 monthly pageviews. Moreover, there is a basic ad policy to be aware of with our Ezoic review…
- Your content has to be original, and not simply a copy-and-paste of some other website or has a lot of plagiarized content.
- Traffic leading to your site has to be genuine and human (i.e. not being driven artificially by bots or otherwise).
- The content isn’t considered prohibited, such as selling counterfeit goods, promoting dangerous products or services, enabling dishonest behavior, creating inappropriate content, and so on.
- Your site needs to have a menu bar or some sort of navigation built-in.
- The content can’t be locked.
How Do Ezoic’s Requirements Compare?

As you can see here in our Ezoic review, Ezoic leaves the others in the dust as far as approachability is concerned. With Ezoic’s introduction of its Access Now program, both small and large publishers are set on an even footing to win out on ad revenue. There’s no threshold to reach, so you needn’t have to worry if you’re a tinier site seeking to implement its AI-powered ads. The only thing you need is to meet Ezoic’s ad policies.
In stark contrast, as we’ll look further into with our Ezoic review, AdThrive and Mediavine are far out of reach for most smaller websites. If you’re one of the new-kid-on-the-block sites or blogs, you’ll have to work hard just to meet their requirements. In AdThrive’s case, you’d have to reach at least 100,000 monthly pageviews (for us, that’s a barrier that we barely got past some months ago). Mediavine’s services aren’t that much easier to get into, either. Plus, just because you have the pageviews they say they need, that doesn’t mean you will get accepted, we have been rejected in the past.
Even with “only” 50,000 monthly pageviews, you couldn’t expect to monetize with them anytime soon if you’re merely starting out. When you take into account how effective Ezoic has been with its AI and machine learning-tuned advertisements, there’s really not much that you could gain by opting for the other two. There might be benefits elsewhere, but for ad revenue, it’s neither easier nor as profitable as Ezoic.
Let me make it clear that Ezoic isn’t just for publishers starting out. It is also for publishers at the top of their game with millions of page views. Ezoic will even guarantee a 25% revenue increase even if you are coming over from Mediavine or Adthrive. They will pay you out of their own pocket if they can’t achieve this. How To Get Started On Ezoic?
With all that in mind, how can you get started on Ezoic right now? You’ve seen how well it’s worked in the case of this Ezoic review, not counting the thousands of other publishers who have positive experiences with Ezoic, as well. In all, it’s as easy as A-B-C to sign up for Ezoic. All you’d have to do is let its simple set-up process guide you along each step of the way…
- First, you can sign up to Ezoic using our link here, and go through the initial registration process.
- Next up, you’ll have to integrate your site with Ezoic using Cloudflare, DNS registration, or simply through a WordPress plugin. Although, we wouldn’t personally recommend relying solely on that WordPress plugin, as it does have some drawbacks. Use Cloudflare integration where you can.
- Now, you can log into WordPress, and use the Ezoic Plugin to create and include ad placeholders onto your page. This is normally where ad banners show up. You could manually input ad placements on a by-paragraph basis (i.e. one ad banner after every 5 paragraphs or however you like, etc.). Rather, you could use Ezoic’s AI-powered ad tools to automatically dictate the placement and quantity of banners shown.
- Once that’s done, you can head back into the Ezoic dashboard, and make sure that monetization options is turned on. There, you can better tweak the advertorial settings. While you’re here, be sure to also turn on LEAP, which is Ezoic’s toolset for optimizing web core vitals. In layman’s terms, helping you to streamline and maximize the loading speeds and performance of your website.
- Last but not least, you can begin analyzing and keeping a close eye on how those ads trickle in. It’s a good idea to give Ezoic 12 or so weeks before the ad revenue starts to compound massively. This 12-week timeframe is required for Ezoic’s AI to best understand (and experiment) with where to place ads on the page, how many to include in a single page, and what type of ads to show.
Ezoic’s Grants And Supports
Besides how easy it is to get into, Ezoic has had several schemes in the past to aid and kickstart your site’s growth. One of their prominent ones is a grants program, aiming to provide a small investment to accelerate what plans you might’ve been working on. These grants could additionally include training courses and on-hand assistance to put you on a better path towards eventual profitability and strong growth.
There are, of course, some conditions to qualify for a grant. Normally, they’d make certain that you’ve been with Ezoic for a little while, at least 12 months in, with plans to continue working with them for another 6 months or so. You’d have a higher chance of possibly getting a grant if you’ve been using their services proactively, and are seeing strong momentum.
This shows that Ezoic is keen and willing to work closely with publishers to help grow their business, and expand their site overall. We ourselves had asked Ezoic for a grant to invest in new content prior to this Ezoic review, as well as working with their team closely to maximize ad earnings for Motor Verso. All of which, we’ve been granted, and have put that money to work on some fresh writing to entertain our audience.
As the months’ tick by, and you’re seeing your website gaining pageviews, it’s a good idea to check in with Ezoic every once in a while. They might have more grants, incentives, and other opportunities to offer you. As a whole, this is a pretty neat idea to help out the smaller publishers, and at least provide a bit of cash to get the ball rolling. Their training and guidance would be worth your while, too.
Publisher Success Managers
Granted, running a business while keeping on top of advertising and earnings can be rather tricky to balance. Plus, you’ll have to worry about needing to innovate and plan out for future growth. Once your site has matured, it’s not like things will get any easier by then, either. With that being said, every little bit of help goes a long way, and that’s something Ezoic is more than happy to provide.
They have what’s known as Publisher Success Managers. You can think of them as account managers, assigned to you once you’ve reached Level 3 and above. You could have a chat with them in a pinch if, for example, you’re having problems. Your managers would be more than happy to help out with any technical troubleshooting or give advice on what you can do to attract growth to your webpage.
This has worked well for us, as well. We’ve spoken with not just one, but a lot of fantastic people (there are more than 200 folks working as support staff and managers alone) at Ezoic. The help they’ve been able to offer in return has been massively beneficial. Just speaking with them has given us a far better understanding and clearer picture of how to grow Motor Verso into becoming what it is today. My first Publisher Success Manager was Mark, he was fantastic, I have recently changed manager to Jennifer, who is also very knowledgable and both were very helpful with helping push the business forward.
You could ask your success managers on tips and tricks for how to expand the business, or gain a better foothold on pageviews. Perhaps you’d like to up your EPMV or want some consultation on the next big step forward for your business. They can sit down with you to analyze the nitty-gritty of every byte of data to see what you’re missing out on, and where you could take advantage to earn more.
Is Ezoic Free?
It’s an interesting question, and that gives us a chance to better explain in-depth how your fees work with Ezoic. In essence, there’s a price to pay for leveraging the tools, technologies, and upsides offered on their platform. The main cost that you’ll have to dabble with is their Premium program fees if you get invited, as it has already been highlighted earlier in our Ezoic review.
Ezoic will also take a 10% cut on your earnings through ad revenues. This is a part of the privilege of being in their ecosystem, on top of all the perks. Still, that doesn’t change our view that the high cost is more than worth it, and has thus far earned multiples more for us in ad revenue. Give it some time, with a bit of patience and hard work, you’ll soon start to see profits rolling in for your site.
The 10% taken is invisible to you in the dashboard. So what you see is what you get. We take our payments out via Payoneer, which is the most efficient way of receiving your funds.
What Are The Other Features That Ezoic Offers?
Besides merely a platform to power advertisements on your site, Ezoic has many other features and tools to complement your business. Here’s a quick rundown of some of the most important ones that you may want to pay close attention to…
1. Speed Optimisations
Besides embedding adverts onto your site for monetization, Ezoic gives you the tools to help speed up your website, too. This is, interestingly, a side-effect of the very thing that Ezoic does, as we’ve discovered in this Ezoic review – put ads onto a website. Naturally, adding adverts onto a site (as is the case with any excess or additional scripts) will introduce significant slowdowns in performance. This is bad for two reasons:
- Firstly, visitors will have a poor experience with your website. It might take them a long time to load a page. We’re talking about the difference between several seconds (no or minimal ads) to several tens of seconds (loaded up with ads). Meanwhile, simple actions like browsing around or scrolling various pages will be laggy and sluggish. This also discourages visitors from exploring your site even more.
- Secondly, it might otherwise encourage visitors to install and activate adblockers to remove adverts entirely from your page. Adblockers do work wonders in speeding up load times. However, what your visitors gain in speed is your loss, as blocked ads yield no ad revenue. Optimizing its performance, as well as the use of non-intrusive advertising, are great ways to mitigate the use of adblockers.
To this effect, you can see how a few seconds’ worth of quicker load times on your webpage can have a substantial effect in the long run. Slow page loading has, in our experience as of this Ezoic review, pushed users to scatter and abandon you in favor of other, slicker web pages. Even if their content might not be as good as yours, the fact that it could be accessed and enjoyed faster is enough of a reason to be worried.
Speaking of performance, one of the tools that Ezoic offers to hasten up your site is LEAP. Typically, wanting to smoothen out the loading times on WordPress requires installing optimisation plugins. Though, that won’t be necessary if you use Ezoic’s LEAP, which could reconfigure and fine-tune your webpage’s back-end performance on the fly. Plus, it’s included in the package, for no extra charge.
At the very front of the page on the Ezoic dashboard, you get a summary of what’s slowing down your site, and what could be done to improve it. This feedback and insight might be pretty useful for your developer to iron things out. For example, it could say that your use of fonts or the inclusion of too many embedded YouTube videos is slowing the site down, and maybe you should remove them.
Besides these recommendations, LEAP features a site-wide setting that you could enable or remove to make quick and automated performance enhancements. Some of these functions include…
- Optimizes the loading of fonts, scripts, ads, and stylesheets.
- Hastens the loading of any images and rich media in the content.
- Caching of assets across pages to load them faster.
- Gets rid of unwanted and unnecessary code or scripts that don’t do anything.
- Pre-connects to other domains and sites to load assets faster.
Elsewhere in the LEAP toolbox, you could better analyze your site’s Core Web Vitals. This could show you how much time it takes to load certain sites or media, both on mobile and desktop browsers. It’ll then highlight the worse pages on your site as far as loading times are concerned. Besides this, LEAP could give you an extensive look at input delays between clicks on your site, and so much more.
The third important tool that our Ezoic review is here to discuss to speed up your site is its caching services. Parts of your site are stored and repeatedly updated on its cloud servers. Any time a visitor loads up a page, Ezoic will try to pull up an available cached version to accelerate loading times. On this page, Ezoic has a myriad of settings for you to play around with, to best maximize the use of caching to boost performance.
If your site isn’t working right, you could clear the cache from here. Although, it should be noted that you ought to be careful before deleting the cache on your site. In the case of this Ezoic review, the cache is kept on a CDN, or ‘Content Delivery Network‘. Deleting the cache, even for a single page, will affect the CDN data. Ordinarily, the cache is cleared automatically with the Ezoic WordPress plugin when a page is updated.
And, it deletes the cache for that single URL rather than the entire site. If you delete the cache, it could massively cut down on ad revenue, until it is refreshed. I know from testing, that we lose 25% of our daily ad earnings, after deleting the site-wide cache. So think before clearing your cache.
We also have to talk a bit about cache ‘hit’ (when you look something up in the cache, and it’s found). As well as, a cache ‘miss’ (when you look something up in the cache, but it isn’t found). Cache ‘hit’ is the one you want, as successfully pulling up a cached page massively increases your ad revenue. We noted something along the lines of a 25% gain in earnings from a cache hit compared to a miss.
4. Big Data Analytics
Next up in our Ezoic review, we have their equivalent of Google Analytics, using Big Data to show you how your site has been performing. This is usually from exhaustion, as companies are paying higher for bids leading up to Christmas and the previous year’s end. Our friend the EPMV, or ‘earnings per thousand visitors’, is back. We’ve dedicated another section for it in our Ezoic review, owing to how important it is when it comes to accurately gauge how much an ad earns you. On the surface, it’s a measurement of how much you’re earning for every 1,000 visits to your site. In simpler terms, your webpage’s EPMV can be calculated by using the formula…

Here’s an example… Let’s say your total March 2022 ad earnings were $10,000. Say, it’s split between Ezoic ($8,000), and Google AdSense ($2,000), although the source of the income doesn’t matter. And in addition to this, you had 1,000,000 visitors for the entire month. How much would your EMPV for March 2022 be, then? If we use the abovementioned formula…

NOTE: The “m” in EPMV stands for ‘mille’, which in metric terms stands for ‘thousand’.
Therefore, this rounds up to a total EPMV of $10.00 (we are currently experiencing EPMV of around $40 on average). In other words, that’s how much you’re earning, on average, for every 1,000 visitors in that month. This form of measurement is quite a bit different from the standard ECPM (effective cost per thousand) and RPM (revenue per thousand) that we’re more accustomed to. So, how do these 3 differ, and why is EPMV a better choice?
EPMV vs ECPM vs RPM
There’s one similarity between all 3 (EPMV, ECPM, and RPM), in that they’re all publisher-side metrics to analyze ad revenue. However, the way they function and what they calculate differ. To put it simply, ECPM and RPM are roughly similar, as they’re calculated for every 1,000 pageviews. Meanwhile, the EPMV is measured across every visitor (later divided by 1,000 visitors) on your site for that month.
In other words, this makes ECPM and RPM more page-specific, seeing how well one particular page is performing, accounting for every 1,000 pageviews. On the other hand, EPMV (which they use, as we’ve explained earlier in our Ezoic review) gives you the bigger picture across the entire site. Unfortunately, not many advertising platforms record their users’ ad revenues and analytics through EPMV. AdSense, for example, still uses the old-school RPM.
This is primarily attributed to the additional effort and data it requires to better estimate and gauges EPMV over RPM or ECPM. With that in mind, EPMV does ensure some benefits over ECPM and RPM. Firstly, it provides a holistic and all-encompassing view to publishers of how their site is performing. Overall, EPMV is a more accurate way of analyzing visitors’ reach and behavior on your webpage.
For example, an increase in ad placements might improve your RPM or ECPM. However, your visitors might not appreciate just how many ads there are now and might leave after just one session. This is known as ‘bounce rate’, and higher bounce rates negatively impact your ad revenue in the long run. It could otherwise have been detected by EPMV, measuring your earnings, and how visitors behave.
